Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Plant walk through inspections; coaching
- One-on-one with hourly employees
- Open door policy
- Site resource, coach for the hourly team
(more facetime and interface time with the
hourly's than any other resource
- Hourly's are aligned with and understand
key objectives (KPM's)
- Spirit of team work is evident; energetic
- Given the presence of split shifts, must return
to work at odd hours
- Must take time to be visible, approachable
- Must communicate at all times
- Must learn key business measures quickly
- Must be proactive in weekly team reviews
- Week in Sydney & Hereford
- Network with Sidney & Hereford peers
- Drive the successful execution of key site

- Monitor quality & clearout through the facility...are
there problems or opportunities
- Administer plant CAPEX; plant maintenance
- Downtime % - scheduled vs. unscheduled
- Ensure rail cars are submitted early, complete, accurately
- Internal audits...how are we doing, trends, etc
- Monitor PLC/maintenance software
- Requires innovation in an industry that resists change (grain)
- Get to know Ops Managers at other sites around the country -
network, leverage others expertise
- Get familiar with applicable regulations
- Site safety expert
- Well controlled safety audit by corp
- Zero lost time injuries
- Develop hourly's to lead trading
- Regs. are technical, difficult to read, understand, interpret
- Safety performance has some priority as cost, quality, service
- Thermocouple readings; probes; samples
- Must be an acration expert
- "Own" the inventory
- Must manage quality and quantity of inventory
- No infestations, hot spots, spoilage, shrink
- Managing the inventory is closer to an art than a science
- Must be pretty astute at automology
- Will require walkarounds, very strenuous inspections of silos
Credentials / Knowledge / Skills Preferred
- Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in an engineering
discipline
- 4 to 8 years experience in Industry
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Must be a very good communicator, team player,
team builder, sponsor, and coach; Should be
hands-on but enable the team to think and
act on its own
- Key site resource for the hourly team; Has more face
time with the hourly then any other resource
- Must have a good mechanical, process-flow background
- This position safeguards the assets; Cannot have
downtime, must be able to run upon "request" or
need
- Must be a surveyor of change; Always looking for a
better way (in an industry that doesn't
look for change)
- To achieve continually declining costs; constant
quality improvement; competitive advantage
