Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities                                                                 - The person will report directly to the President of   the company. - Responsible for the editorial (product) development of   professional computer books program and   management of publishing affairs for the   division - Suggest long-term objectives for the program and   formulate strategies to achieve suggested   objectives to include: selection of suitable   product/market combinations, development of   targets and approaches for acquisition - Responsible for implementation of long-term strategies - Responsible for overall profit/loss for professional   books program to include: preparation &   implementation of marketing budget - Interacts with Publishing Team in a constructive and   collegial way, emphasizing joint responsibility   to achieve set goals and function as top   acquisitions editor in his group - Identify and contact potential authors and/or editors,   review proposals,and prepare clear, complete   and informative proposals. - Supervise editorial staff and administer necessary   training, guide staff in identification of   markets for products, and review proposals   before submission as a BIP - Supervise Production Department and see to it   transmission of manuscripts received takes   place in a systematic and timely fashion, that   appropriate quality control is exercised and   approved cost estimates and budgets are adhered   to - Act as Senior Manager of site operations, ensure site   stays operational and submit/administer   appropriate budget
Credentials / Knowledge / Skills Preferred                                                                 - Be a member of U.S. Publishing and Management   Committee - Ability to communicate ideas both verbal and written - Show initiative, job knowledge, good judgement, and   demonstrate ability to set strategic goal - Employ flexibility, and utilize influence to persuade   others - Exhibit teamwork, planning/organizational abilities,   and performance management - Have financial and quantitative skills and display   cost consciousness (cost/resource)
