Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Responsible for defining, managing and measuring the
effectiveness of all marketing communications
plans and activities
- Develop and implement processes to continually improve
quality while controlling costs
- Maintain understanding of divisional/corporate
positioning and mission and provide accurate
representation of both
- Represent the division as needed in company-wide
communications efforts
- Participate in or lead divisional employee
communications efforts and maintain relations
with other Communications managers
- Understand and monitor the legal issues surrounding
the promotion of products and
corporate/divisional identity
- Lead or participate in project initiation and concept
planning meetings
- Manage staff assignments and help select contractors
and vendors as needed
- Oversee contractors and vendors for quality,
cost-effectiveness and service
- Help ensure that project objectives and timelines are
met and budgets are wisely spent and tracked
- Work with Events Manager, Webmaster and others when
these channels are used to support
Advertising/Promotion
- Maintain departmental communication through staff
meetings and individual meetings
- Conduct performance reviews/initiate other performance
appraisals and offer training suggestions as
needed
Credentials / Knowledge / Skills Preferred
- Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism,
Marketing or combinations, MBA preferred
- Minimum 8 years related experience in
Marketing/Communications and at least 6 years
supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience in strategic and tactical
communications planning/quality improvement
processes
- Must possess strong writing ability and be very
well-organized/detail oriented
- Experience marketing software and services a plus
- Experience managing print production (buying of
creative/production services, direct mail,
collateral, publications, etc.)
- Proven ability to manage complex program and to
develop and motivate strong, effective teams
- Must be confident/dynamic and able to lead a medium to
large diverse department
- Proven experience in budget planning and management
