Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Implement plans through the departments in order to
position the company advantageously before its
public and to influence or change public policy
- Anticipate, analyze and interpret public opinion,
attitudes and issues that might impact the
plans and operations of the company
- Work directly with Designer and Senior Management to
determine the company's image for each public
- Plan and periodically review the accomplishments and
goals of the public relations departments with
Senior Management
- Responsible for the knowledge of the use of trademarks
and the laws governing the use of trademarks
- Comply with SEC and FTC regulations governing tone and
content of communications to the public,
commercial messages, advertisements, product
liability, public stock offerings, etc.
- Comply with protective public relations policy for
crisis management to avert an attack or at
least make it less damaging, prevent rumors,
service the media, and help restore order in
case of disasters, dissident groups or
litigation
- Prepare annual budget for the department
- Coordinate final editorial decision over all material
to be published in journals, consumer
magazines, newspapers and press releases
- Responsible for coordinating Rep communication as
needed
- Field press inquiries, direct media calls and attend
all interviews whether they are conducted via
telephone or in person, and record those
interviews when appropriate
- Cooperate with Compliance to be certain all
advertisements meet all applicable guidelines
and regulations, and are not deceptive or
misleading
- Attend key local and national events as representative
of the company while creating and maintain PR
network
- Maintain up-to-date bios of management and also
distribute press releases
- Coordinate production of any company books and
coordinate the marketing and publicity with the
publisher
- Insure that all Reps requesting public relations
assistance receive proper care, consideration
and service
- Responsible for leveraging Internet opportunities,
developing the company image, and research
media outlets
- Responsible for working with Political Affairs staff
to ensure coordinated efforts
Credentials / Knowledge / Skills Preferred
- Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred
- Three to five years industry experience required
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication
skills
- Must be very detail and quality oriented
