Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Supervises and administers compliances with all
tax laws and regulations
- Administers, directs and supervises the preparation
and filing of all federal, state and local income and
excise tax returns, supporting schedules and related
documents and agreements
- Prepares and files appropriate refund claims and
directs timely payment of any and all taxes due
- Negotiates or supervises negotiations with tax
authorities and determines or supervises
determination of final tax liability
- Administers and supervises federal tax audits,
attends hearings, and negotiates equitable
determinations of controversial tax issues raised
by taxing authorities
- Consults with and advises management and operating
personnel on tax aspects of proposed transactions
- Supervises and administers and assists in the
drafting and negotiation of contracts and other
documents necessary for documentation of
aquisitions and dispositions
- Conducts or supervises and administers tax planning
and tax policy administration to provide information
necessary for complete business planning and accurate,
timely compliance
- Coordinates or supervises and administers coordination
of Tax Department activities with subsidiary tax
functions to achieve efficiency in overall tax activities
- Administers, supervises and directs the coordination
of federal tax compliance and administration
between various company units and the Tax Department
to establish efficient use of data
- Keeps abreast of all changes in laws, regulations,
court decisions, accounting procedures and corporate
activities affecting all fields of taxation
- Administers and supervises Tax Department, including
planning and assigning projects, coordinating
professional training and development programs,
directs staffing requirements
Credentials / Knowledge / Skills Preferred
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in accounting
- Additional training and experience with an
accounting firm or corporate tax department
in practical tax return preparation, analyzing
and researching the Internal Revenue Code,
regulations and rulings, and experience in
implementation of the same
- Working knowledge of the various activities,
accounting policies and systems of the enterprise
- Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively
with government representatives and all
levels of management
