Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Communicates the objectives of an audit and planned
other services to staff and seniors, and
establishes/communicates the staff's and
senior's roles in the audit process.
- Stays abreast of general business and economic
developments and demonstrates a broader
understanding of the client's business and
industry by recognizing business trends and
emerging technical and industry developments of
relevance to share with the client engagement
team.
- Serves as a trusted business advisor by providing the
client advice related to more routine business
issues.
- Provides input and guidance in the development of the
Audit planning Memorandum, Audit Approach Plan,
detailed audit programs, and Summary Review
Memorandum.
- Executes audit procedures in complex, judgmental
and/or specialized areas.
- Analyzes evidence, reaches conclusions, identifies
issues and proposes strategies for complex,
judgmental issues, as well as makes decisions
related to moderately complex issues with
regard to the audit procedures executed.
- Consults with others in the firm, as necessary, on
complex issues.
- Timely reviews working papers and a draft of financial
statements prepared by staff and seniors for
technical accuracy and completeness, as is
consistent with generally accepted auditing
standards and accounting principles, as well as
the requirements of the firm.
- Utilizes and encourages the application of firm
microcomputer-based audit tools.
- Prepares and delivers presentations to engagement team
members (e.g., when conducting planning
meetings) and client management (e.g., when
participating in closing conferences).
- Prepares memoranda, working papers, and other
documents in conjunction with serving the
client (e.g., proposals, engagement letters,
management letters, reports on other attest
services).
- Develops and maintains working relationships with
client management throughout the year and
demonstrates a commitment to identify client
needs and continually improve the firm's
client's satisfaction.
- Provides guidance to assist staff and seniors in
reaching their full potential (e.g., willingly
addresses questions, contributes constructive
on-the-job feedback and training, conducts
meaningful and timely performance reviews) and
assists them in designing and implementing
individual development plans.
- Fosters teamwork by maintaining cooperative
relationships with others (e.g., sharing
staff's and senior's time with other engagement
teams), contributing to positive work
environments, facilitating the resolution of
conflicts, sharing information, and accepting
and providing constructive feedback.
- Manages audit engagements -including managing their
individual time; scheduling and assigning work
and monitoring the progress of audit field work;
proposing modifications to current procedures
to improve audit effectiveness and efficiency;
and proposing timely billings and collection
strategies, and continuing to learn the
economics of the practice.
- Manages work of seniors and staff.
Credentials / Knowledge / Skills Preferred
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, master's degree in
accounting and/or undergraduate or master's
degree with sufficient course work to achieve
CPA certification on passing the examination.
- CPA certification.
- Five years experience working as an auditor for a
public accounting firm or possess particular
business/industry experience to meet special
needs.
- Understands the full range of services that the firm
provides and identifies ways to address the
needs of the client.
- Maintains an education program to continually develop
technical accounting, auditing, and management
skills consistent with the firm's professional
development requirements.
- Understands, as related to their office, established
strategic objectives and organizational
policies and the engagement tracking systems
utilized.
- Assists with other firm administrative and educational
matters (e.g., professional development
programs for staff, process improvement team
initiatives, recruiting efforts, and special
projects).
- Actively involved in leadership roles in civic,
business community, and/or professional
organizations and continues to develop business
network.
